Editorial policy
Last updated: 2026-04-24
Our promise
We are editorial. We are not OCC-certified. We do not file tax returns. Everything on this site is informational; for action, talk to an OCC accountant in our directory.
Sourcing standards
- Every tax claim links to Portal das Finanças, Diário da República, AT Madeira, or Segurança Social.
- Secondary sources (PwC, Doutor Finanças, Moloni) are identified as such.
- Every page shows a last-verified date.
- Brackets and tables refresh in January; mid-year updates land in /updates as they happen.
Directory inclusion
- Any OCC-certified accountant operating in Madeira can be listed for free (basic tier).
- Every listing is verified against the OCC public member registry before going live.
- Featured placement (€150–400/mo) buys top-of-filter visibility, not editorial ranking. Clearly badged.
- Removal on request of the firm is always honoured within 7 days.
- Complaints: contact us + OCC directly.
Revenue + conflicts
- Three streams: featured listings (paid by firm), per-lead referrals, software affiliate.
- Payment does not influence editorial ranking, content, or calculator methodology.
- No single accountant is recommended by name in editorial content. Directory filter shows matched firms; readers choose.
- Referral disclaimer appears next to every commercial link.
Corrections
If you find a factual error email us. We correct within 7 days, add a note to the page noting the correction and date. Major errors trigger an update in /updates.
What we refuse to do
- Pay-to-play rankings.
- "Best accountant in Funchal" claims (OCC publicity rules + editorial neutrality).
- Guarantee refund outcomes, IFICI approval, IBC licensing approval — tax advice is the firm's role.
- Tax-evasion schemes or anything that violates AT / OCC rules.
